I was craving Mexican food on my way to Brighton Beach. When I saw all the good reviews on this restaurant, I went here to order pulled pork tacos to go. Two tacos were only $5. They gave me some radishes, slices of lime, and guacamole to go with it.
The wait was longer than expected. There were only two couples in the restaurant. And there was one other customer waiting for his order to go. However, it wasn't bad of a wait since the AC was on and there was Spanish soap opera playing on their television.
I will definitely come back here. I would love to try their other dishes. -

Not Sanitary. Inattentive, uncaring but nice staff.
Came here earlier this summer. The waitress was polite and smiled.
1. We asked for two wine glasses. There are no wine glasses, so the waitress brought us two regular glasses. Both glasses were cloudy, and one had a very distinct clear lipstick mark on it. We gave the glasses back and asked for plastic cups for our wine. Asked the waitress to open the bottle. She said she "doesn't know how" and didn't even try to go and ask any of her colleagues, or kitchen staff to open it. Luckily, my friend knew this about Tacos El Rey and brought own wine opener. We ended up having to open the wine ourselves at the table.
2. There was very loud music (fine) so we stepped out for a phone call. Just then, two waitresses bring our food on gigantic tray-like plates and put a wrong plate for each of us. There were only 3-4 other tables with clientele, so I'm not sure why it was so hard to remember who ordered what. Later, we had to move these giant tray-plates ourselves. They were so big, it was kind of funny.
But that was not the worst part.
3. As they put the plates on the table, my clean paper napkin falls on a very filthy carpet-rug. The carpet was not swept for at least a month, it looked like. There were pieces/chunks of stuff on it. They didn't know I was watching them through the window-glass from outside, but I literally saw my clean paper napkin FALL on the filthy carpet, and the waitress picks it up and PUTS IT BACK ON THE TABLE next to my fork! I had to step inside and tell her to change it.
We were nice, left a normal tip. We didn't make a scene because... no point. But it was some of the worst service and most unsanitary restaurant I've been to in years.
FIX IT! -

A small but vibrant establishment that has great tacos, burritos, and my favorite Chile de Relleno. Servers are nice and accommodating, and prompt and punctual. Have been going here for years and have yet to have a bad experience.
Great food, great prices, and always a safe bet when in the area -

Rating solely based on takeout, but what a great little Mexican spot! The restaurant is a medium size and is a little older/rundown but has a truly nice vibe and the food is delish. I ordered some chicken tacos and pupusas revueltas and my boyfriend & I were stuffed !! Delicious and recommend for when you are craving some homestyle Mexican food!

Ordered the carnitas tacos and chicken quesadillas. Both were delicious and priced fairly. Nice people working there and great food! Glad I gave this place a shot!
